Travel Advisory

We are aware that Turkey can be a scary place to travel to. Luckily Adana is not dangerous and is not a politically loaded city like Ankara. We understand if you would like to see rest of Turkey while you are here but please do not travel East of Adana and avoid the capital, Ankara, as much as possible. Instead we suggest you plan to see:

Izmir : Beautiful city. From Izmir you can travel to summer provinces like Cesme and Kusadasi and enjoy the beautiful Turkish beaches and the sun. Alacati, a small village in Cesme is famous for windsurfing, epicurial arts, and night life. You can also do a more touristy trip and get to see Ephesus, one of the seven wonders of the world.  It is also possible to catch a ferry to Greece.

Istanbul  : Don’t leave Turkey without spending a day in Istanbul. Duygu prefers the European side. Take a boat ride across the Bosphorus. Feed pigeons in Ortakoy and go for a night out in Taksim. There is not enough time or space to list all the things you can do in Istanbul. Google and a personal conversation with Duygu is your best bet.  Having said that, it is not the safest place in the world. Make sure you check the US Embassy’s travel advisory when you are going sight seeing.

You will find alerts as these to be quiet accurate:

Mugla : There is nothing in the city of Mugla, except for the airport that will take you to beautiful Bodrum and Marmaris  Ridiculously beautiful water, absolutely fun towns. Makes an excellent vacation. Marmaris is cheaper than Bodrum overall, but less touristy. Still very touristy. Duygu’s favorite spot in Marmaris is the bay of Selimiye. You can take daily boat trips from both locations and swim in virgin waters. Nuff said.

Antalya : There is nothing in the city of Antalya, except for the airport that will take you to gorgeous beaches, bays and other small towns. Duygu’s favorite spots are Kas and Kalkan. If you are into diving, these are your spots. Please not that these places are on the Mediterranean. HOT hot hot weather, salty salty water, warm people and good food. Hard to get to but definitely worth the trip. The other provinces of Antalya is pretty as well, just as not authentic.

Capadoccia : Very famous historical region in Anatolia. Everybody should see it once before they die. Not a great summer adventure but still pretty. Especially if you are not into going out, swimming or doing other beach things.

Other travel ideas: Travel to Europe. Turkish airlines flies EVERYWHERE from Istanbul. 2 hours can take you to Paris, 1 hour can take you to Athens, or 3 hours and you are in Prague. Just saying. Turkey is a wonderful spot to start your journey.
